The “A” Levels: Basic User 

A1 or Beginners level: (Duration- 40-45 hours) 

The first level of language learning enables beginners to 

  • Recognize and use known expressions and phrases necessary to build simple everyday conversations. 

  • Introduce themselves;  pose as well as respond to questions about their possessions, city, friends, family and other common topics. 

  • Make use of basic past, present and future tense to describe and understand different situations. 

A2 or Elementary:     (Duration – 50-55 hours)  At the A2 level, a language learner:

  • Understands commonly used terms in most central areas of conversations like shopping, employment, family, and geography, travelling. 

  • Develops a good level of vocabulary which makes written and oral communication more lucid and effective.

  • Is able to explain matters of immediate need in straightforward terms. 

The “B” Levels: Independent User 

B1 – Threshold (or intermediate):    (Duration – 60-65 hours)

After this level, the learner can :

  • Identify the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly used in work, school, leisure, etc.

  • Handle travel situations in areas where the language is spoken

  • Write or create texts on personal interest topics.

  • Explain their dreams, hopes, ambitions, and experiences with others.

  • Give their opinions, reasons, and plans on a topic briefly

B2 – Upper Intermediate or Vantage:   (Duration – 70 hours) 

  B2 level arms the learner with sufficient knowledge to take correct decisions regarding grammar, vocabulary and syntax. The learners can 

  • Understand the fundamental idea of a complex text, or technical piece related to different fields.

  • Communicate with a degree of fluency and spontaneity without too much strain for either the learner or the native speaker.

  • Produce detailed text on a wide range of subjects

  • Explain their point of view on a current issue by elaborating upon advantages, disadvantages, problems and solutions.

  • Differentiate adequately between  Standard French language, French slang, French spoken in Francophone countries.
